Hi there, this week I wanted to share this work I made on “Clip Studio Paint”, which is software focused on digital painting.
It took me some time to get used to the interface but in the end, it is very similar to photoshop with the advantage that I can paint on the iPad and open the same work on PC to keep painting with Cintiq. 

The Knight design was inspired by the Dragon Quest franchise, and the monster is more like a wizard transformed into a bird, like one from the main characters in Howl’s Moving Castle from Studio Ghibli. About the technique, I started with a quick pencil draft in my sketchbook and later applied ink.

Once I finished with the outline, I exported it and experimented with color combinations. It was hard to find an idea about the time of day and colors for the painting until I got this picture as my main reference.

So this is my advice, always work with references. The key for your design answers is out there waiting to be discovered.
